read what some of our members have to say about quad!
by max macdonald

About a year ago I walked by your studio on King Street West and peeped inside, grabbed a schedule and thought to myself, "one day". I had taken classes at various gyms but never got why people loved it. So I put the schedule on my bulletin board at home and left it at that.

Back in January I decided to get very serious about loosing my blubber (let's face it Gaultier does not make clothes for men 300+lbs., not that I am that heavy, but I digress). So I decided to completely re-evaluate my total exercise program. For years I was doing the four days a week at the gym, one of those days was with a trainer. Who not only became my exercise mentor but a friend.

It was until recently that I decided that I needed to part ways, for no reasons other than to give it a go by myself, with my trainer and start my own fitness program. But the one stipulation was, I had to work out six times a week, two of those had to be out of the gym doing something fun where I broke a sweat. There on my bulletin board was an old Quad schedule with your web site. I went on-line, looked up the beginner class, and the rest was history.

At this point I had not done a class in years. From the moment my blubber butt walked into Quad I was treated like a member of "the team" not just a person who paid for a class. The Introductory class is what got me hooked into "the power of quad". Before I even sat down on the bike the instructor said to me, "now this is your bike and I'm going to be watching you for posture, balance and take make sure you breathing properly. I don't care how fast you are going I care how you get there." I WAS BLOWN AWAY!!! For whole class she did just that. She watched how I sat, rode, peddled, and especially was breathing (if at all) LOL. She was just incredible and the music was so much fun. I was hooked on Quad and began to take classes regularly.

Due to some personal scheduling conflicts I have to take a class at my gym. The instructors are not bad, but they are not of Quad calibre. I have seen people go bounding into classes at my gym only to sit wrong, adjust their bikes to the wrong height and almost injure themselves. In addition, most instructors at many gyms have a "get the class over" attitude. At quad it's more, "let's take the journey together some will be fast, some will be slow, but we are all in this together." The difference between my gym and Quad is night and day.

Now as I am about enter your weight loss program I am thrilled I understand now the philosophy of cycling and I sincerely miss it when I can hit Quad for your classes. I wanted to thank you for developing Quad as it has completely changed my attitude and basically my philosophy to exercise and what it really means to "train smartly". I can not wait to begin my classes at Quad, which also gives me an excuse to spend less time at my gym and somewhere fun.

I wish you nothing but the best and thank you.

as a gym veteran, it is such a treat to find a place like quad where every size, skill and fitness level are welcome. each instructor is there to ensure i get the best workout i can, through constant encouragement, technique tips and great music. i have yet to attend a class where i haven't gone further than i thought i could. i consistently walk away feeling stronger and happier. each instructor is there because of their love of cycling, not just because it is a job.

quad is helping me to transform and reshape my body. i am much stronger and firmer than i have ever been, and my butt is rock hard. i am in better shape than i was in my early 20's. quad is a treasure, and quad soon becomes addictive!

quad is an awesome club that was started by micheline who had her own studio in l.a. i have been hugely devoted since day one; their teachers are qualified, lovely, soulful people who make you feel great, no matter what level you are at. the music is very well chosen and tres groovy, and they walk around regularly giving you technique tips (oh so important!). i could not recommend it more. whether you go part-time, cross-train or full time; they rock!

I first started riding in 2004 when I was living outside of Toronto as a way of cross training when I was not running. I found those classes "ok" but nothing that I could get really excited about.

When I returned to Toronto, a friend recommended that I try Quad. One class and I was hooked! No constant yelling of nonsense, no silly moves, just great music, fantastic motivation from the instructors, lots of fun, and a RIDICULOUS amount of sweat! I started going 2 to 3 times a week. The benefit it had on my running was amazing. Without changing my running routine, I was posting personal best after personal best, regardless of whether it was 5km or 42.2km. My running friends noticed and wanted to know what I was doing differently.

It?s been 2 years since I first started going to Quad. In that time, I?ve introduced many fellow runners and my husband to Quad and Saturdays at 9:30am, you?ll find us bopping in Micheline?s class. During the week, I'm grinding up the hills in one of Anouk's killer endurance classes. This year I'm proud to say I was able to accomplish one of my major running goals; I qualified for the 2009 Boston Marathon finishing in under 3:40, an improvement of 35 minutes from my pre-Quad days.

I cannot recommend Quad highly enough! The classes and instructors top notch, the front desk staff are always warm and friendly, and the owners, Micheline and Martin understand customer service in a BIG way. Thanks Quad for doing what you do so well and helping me get to Boston!
